Counseling

One of the most popular career paths taken with a psychology degree in counseling. Counseling services are provided for individuals who are working on mental health issues or individuals who are working through traumatic experiences. A mental health counselor is not the same as a psychiatrist. Most mental health counseling facilities will employ counselors with just a psychology degree, whereas a psychiatrist is also a medically trained doctor which is qualified to prescribe medications. Mental health counseling jobs can be found at counseling centers, hospitals, churches, schools, and even through online platforms.

Bachelor's Positions

There are many types of professions that simply require that an applicant hold a bachelor's degree in any major. If you obtain a bachelor's degree in psychology, it will qualify you for these types of positions. For instance, many insurance companies require that those applying for the position of "Claims Supervisor" hold a bachelor's degree in any field. Human resources is another popular career path that usually requires a bachelor's in any field. A bachelor's in psychology also comes in very handy in this career because you will be dealing with people and sometimes dealing with their problems and emotions concerning their job. Marketing and advertisement are also very flexible concerning what kind of degree you have.

Psychiatry

If you do want to move ahead into the career path of traditional psychiatry, your bachelor's in psychology will be your first step. Once you have earned this undergraduate degree, you will need to complete medical school in order to be licensed as a psychiatrist.
